Homemade Dutch Apple Pie

Dutch Apple pie has always been a favorite in my family. Since Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, I wanted to try making a homemade Dutch Apple Pie before the holiday. I have included the recipe down below, so you can try making it for this upcoming Thanksgiving. I look forward to reading all your comments!

Ingredients:

9 X 9 baking dish

Filling:

1 frozen Pillsbury pie crust

6 cups, about 8 apples (peeled and diced, you can use any type of apples such as Granny Smith or Macintosh, but I used Gala’s, Golden Delicious, and Snow Sweets.)

½ cup white sugar

½ cup brown sugar

3 tbsp of flour (I used a blend of almond and bread flour)

¾ tsp of ground cinnamon

¼ tsp of nutmeg

Topping:

¾ cup of flour (I used a blend of almond and bread flour)

1/3 cup softened butter

¼ cup white sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Peel and dice your apples.
  3. Put small slices in bottom crust and bake for about 10 minutes, (so it doesn’t get soggy on the bottom)
  4. Mix all of the dry filling ingredients & mix in the apples. (Make sure to coat the apples really well.
  5. Pour into prepared crust.

6. In another bowl, mix flour, sugars, and cinnamon for the topping of the pie.

7. Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the dry ingredients for the topping until it becomes a crumbly texture using a fork.

8. Pour on top of the pie making sure to cover all of the apples.

9. Place on a foil lined baking sheet, before placing into oven for 50 minutes or until topping is golden brown.

10. When finished, remove from oven. Let cool before serving.

11. Enjoy!!

Forever My Love: Neil’s Story

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all having a wonderful week so far. I am very excited to announce, that I released my very first novel called Forever My Love: Neil’s Story a month ago. The book is a romantic novel that portrays the story of two love birds who were once strangers and never thought they’d cross each other’s paths. This story features Amber as the female protagonist, an average next-door girl. On the other hand, the readers get familiar with Neil, the male protagonist who is portrayed as the most handsome and appealing vocalist in any all-boy-band.  They both fall in love and vow to never leave each other’s side despite the circumstances. Their love is put through difficult tests, forcing them to turn down each other. Regardless of the negativity surfacing in their story, the couple proves that when two souls are loyal to each other, they can’t be separated. Their happy ever after is still a possibility.

I have a book signing scheduled at the Barnes and Noble in Saugus, MA on September 7th, from 1 to 3 pm. If you are in the area, I would love to see you and sign a book for you!

I truly hope you all enjoy reading this book, as much as I have loved writing it. If interested in purchasing a copy online, click here:

Lindt Chocolate Shop (Carlisle, PA)

Hello chocolate lovers. This week’s blog post is on Lindt chocolate. I recently stopped at the Lindt chocolate shop in Carlisle, PA. Everyone knows Lindt is known for its delicious Swiss chocolate & truffles. The Lindt store that I stopped at is located on 40 Logistics Drive Suite 100 Factory Outlet, Carlisle, PA. The atmosphere of the store is comfortable with the sweet aroma of delicious mouth watering chocolate. It is definitely worth the stop if you’re passing through Pennsylvania. The staff were very good, making sure to answer any questions you have. Customers also get a free chocolate to taste when they arrive.

They have a wide selection of chocolates, and when customers arrive, they have the option to pick from season special chocolates that may be left over from the recent holiday, or they can pick any of the chocolate truffles of their choice, to create 1 or 2 lbs. of chocolate. I chose to go with a half-pound. The flavors that I picked out of the big variety were Mint, Dark Chocolate, Blueberries and Cream, Fudge Swirl, Orange, Cappuccino, & Red Velvet. My favorites were Red Velvet, Orange, Mint, and the Dark Chocolate.

They’re open Monday-Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday’s from 11 am to 5 pm.

I would recommend visiting the Lindt chocolate store to anyone who’s looking for a great place to stop for chocolate in Carlisle, PA.  If you are interested in checking out the Lindt Chocolate store, click here: https://www.lindtusa.com

Fun fact: The Lindt chocolates for the USA are actually made at the Lindt factory in Stratham, New Hampshire, and is then shipped to the distribution centers in Carlisle, PA and Charlotte, NC.

Remembering the Notre Dame (Paris, France)

It was absolutely devastating to hear that the famous Notre Dame cathedral is burning down. I went to visit the Notre Dame when I was in Paris last year in the Spring of 2018. It was one of my favorite attractions, definitely at the top of my list. As a remembrance of the Notre Dame Cathedral, I thought I would share some of the pictures I took while visiting.

The grandness of the interior hall is absolutely beautiful.

Here are a few photos of the museum that is located within the cathedral. The loss of so much history is devastating.

Notre Dame has some of the most beautiful stain glass throughout the cathedral. Hopefully some of it will survive the devastating fire.

The relics and tombs that line the sides and back of the cathedral were important artifacts of history.

Unfortunately, the front facade is all that may be left intact.

Our prayers are with all of those affected by this devastating fire in Paris. We are thankful that there were not any causalities that are known at this point in time.
