The atmosphere of the restaurant is comfortable and casual. The staff is also very personable and attentive taking great care of their customers. They have a wide selection of food and beverages to choose from local craft beers, wine, and soft drinks. When customers arrive, they will find seating in the dining room and bar area with the option of a booth or a table. The food is reasonably priced and very delicious. Their open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 9 pm, and on Friday and Saturday they are open from 11 am to 10 pm.

We had the Nachos, French Onion soup, the Portobello Tuscan Tower, and  the California burger. The Nachos are piled high with cheese, black olives, scallions, tomatoes, and jalapenos, served with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and chicken.

The French Onion soup, is a classic dish that is served with melted provolone and swiss cheese. It’s also a great dish to order on a cold chilly fall day.

The Portobello Tuscan Tower has salad greens with Portobello mushroom caps filled with artichoke hearts, oven roasted tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella cheese topped with a large roasted red pepper drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

The California burger is a burger served with guacamole, lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and a side of chips and a pickle.

Everyone enjoyed their meal, but my most favorite had to be the French Onion soup, and the Midnight Chocolate Torte. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for a great place to eat in the Henniker area. If you are interested in checking out Daniel’s Restaurant & Pub, click here: http://danielsofhenniker.com

Backyard Brewery (Manchester, NH)

The Backyard Brewery is a family ownedbrewery and pub located in Manchester, NH right down the road from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. There are many pubs and restaurants located in Manchester, NH, but this is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at everytime I’m in Manchester. They have a wide variety of homemade craft beers with a huge glass window in the brewery for viewing the beer vats while you enjoy your meal. Although they offer a variety of food, their most popular dish is prime rib, which is served everyday starting at 4 pm. When customers arrive, they will find a variety of seating in the dining room, the brewery, the pub, and outside on the patio, which is a great place to bring your dog.The food is a little pricy, but very high quality. Some of my favorite meals at the Backyard Brewery include their Prime rib with extraAu jus, and the Dragon steak with a side of chicky sauce. The prime rib is the best prime rib there is. It melts in your mouth. That’s how delicious it is.

Next, the Dragon steak is a soy ginger flat iron steak with broccolini, pineapple salsa, and sriracha fries. The steak is very moist and the pineapple salsa complements the flavor of the steak very well. I will admit I did think the siracha fries were going to be a little too spicy for my liking, but they were actually very good. Not too much spice, but just enough to give you a taste of sriracha.

Customers can also substitute their starch such as mashed potatoes with a side salad. My favorite salad is their Smokin Caesar which includes fresh parmesan, applewood bacon, and delicious caesar dressing.

Customers will also find the atmosphere a little busy both inside and outside, but the staff is very nice and takes great care of their customers. Finally, one of their best desserts is their Smore’s mud pie. This includes graham cracker crust topped with chocolate ice cream, toasted marshmallows and chocolate ganache. YUM!!!! Definitely one of my favorite desserts, and I highly recommend it. If you are interested in checking out Backyard Brewery online, click here: https://backyardbrewerynh.com

What happened to Kimball’s Farm in Jaffrey, NH?

fullsizeoutput_1103

Kimball’s Farm has always been a family favorite for years, and once they opened up for the summer, my dad would always take us down there, at least two or three times a month. When my dad was growing up as a little boy, his dad used to take him to the Kimball’s in Westford, MA when they only had a few ice cream stalls that were open. He’d always share stories with us where his parents would buy one Kimball special shared amongst six kids. It was huge and very delicious! When my father settled in NH, he was delighted to find a Kimball’s in Jaffrey. For years, we enjoyed going to Kimball’s. The food was delicious and the ice cream was fantastic. Sadly, we went to Kimball’s for the first time this season, and I’m not sure what happened. We ordered the seafood platter, chicken strips and a Kimball special. It was quite disappointing. The quality of the food was horrible, and the seafood platter was nothing like last year. The seafood platter and the chicken strips came to $41.00. I’m not even sure it was worth that price. The chicken strips were virtually inedible, and the Kimball special was our greatest disappointment. Hot fudge that wasn’t hot, and ice cream that an 8-year-old wouldn’t even touch. Can you imagine that an 8 year old would not gobble down ice cream? I should note I thought it was kind of strange that the parking lot was almost half empty on a hot Saturday afternoon in July. In the past, there were cars parking along the side of the road because the parking lot was overflowing. I hope this was just a bad day for them, and that the quality and the atmosphere is restored. Please feel free to comment on any of your visits and let me know if I should give it another chance.

Country Spirit Restaurant and Tavern is a family owned bar and grille located in Henniker, NH right off Route 202 highway. Customers have the option to sit in the dining room, the tavern, or outside on the covered patio on a nice day. The food is reasonably priced and they have great service. They have a raw bar and is well known for their Oyster Rockefeller appetizer and prime rib dinners, which are delicious. They offer a variety steaks, pasta, seafood and specials. They have a tavern menu, lunch menu as well as a dinner menu. For the main course, my favorite was the tavern steak tips served with mashed potatoes, and for dessert, I enjoyed the double chocolate cheesecake. Best cheesecake I’ve had in a while. I definitely recommend trying it. Finally, customers who go to Country Spirits will find the atmosphere very comfortable, with rope lighting, a variety of seating options, and an outdoor patio area if you bring your dog. The service is always good everytime I go. I haven’t tried their brunch yet, which they offer on Sunday’s from 10 am-2 pm.
