WICKED: FOR GOOD

I have officially been changed for good after seeing Wicked: For Good! 💚💖 This movie is absolutely amazing—everything and more. Wicked: For Good is the highly anticipated second film in the two-part adaptation of the well known Broadway musical Wicked. It focuses on the consequences of Elphaba and Glinda’s decisions from the first film. It also happens during the events of The Wizard of Oz. It is soaring at the box office, earning $226 million worldwide in its opening weekend, which it officially released Friday November 21. I had no doubt especially with how well Wicked part 1 did last year.

This was my second time seeing the film, and this time I experienced it in 3D with D-Box motion seats, which made the experience even more immersive and impactful! The profound bond between Elphaba and Glinda is simply indescribable, and the powerful message about friendship conveyed during the final song “For Good” was truly beautiful. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s voices blended perfectly, creating a genuinely moving and emotional song. I personally couldn’t have picked better people to play these characters.

A fascinating production note: there was no CGI used to create the Tin Man played by (Ethan Slater) and the Scarecrow played by (Jonathan Bailey). Ethan Slater also played Boq and Jonathan Bailey also played Fiyero. The Tin Man and Scarecrow were all makeup and prosthetics, which is incredible considering these are the very characters who eventually join Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road. This practical effects choice ties back into the tragic origin of the Tin Man’s fate, which is directly caused by Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East. They also added two fantastic new songs: “No Place Like Home,” sung by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and “Girl in the Bubble,” sung by Ariana Grande as Glinda. They both did a beautiful job performing these songs.

The entire cast did a phenomenal job portraying their characters, but especially Jonathan Bailey, Cynthia Erivo, and Ariana Grande. Their performances as Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero brought substantial emotional depth to the story.

Cynthia Erivo’s portrayal of Elphaba was phenomenal. She perfectly captured Elphaba’s journey to becoming the Wicked Witch of the West. She excelled during “No Good Deed,” delivering an intense and powerful performance that completely embodied Elphaba’s rage and determination.

Ariana Grande’s portrayal of Glinda was brilliant. She showcased incredible range, balancing the character’s initial charm and comedic timing before truly soaring with Glinda’s evolution, embodying the character’s duality in a remarkable way.

Jonathan Bailey brings a wonderful warmth and charm to Fiyero. He slipped easily into the role and has that remarkable ability to make whoever he is in front of feel seen and safe, which comes across beautifully in his chemistry with both Erivo and Grande.

This film is a love letter to friendship, love, and celebrating our differences. Truly special. I have truly been changed For Good! 💚💖 I highly recommend going to see Wicked: For Good! A huge thank you to director Jon M. Chu for this unforgettable cinematic experience! 🎬✨

London Favorites🇬🇧

92683C40-D6E4-4526-88A8-36F5CE6B7121

For my first time visiting London earlier this spring, I really enjoyed it. It is common to pack your itinerary so full because there is so much to do and see. Yet realistically, it is essential to space each event to account for a long wait in line for each experience. On my recent trip to London, I only had the opportunity to experience a fraction of the attractions that I expected. The average wait time for each event was 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours in line, and it was often cold and rainy making the wait a bit uncomfortable. Be sure to dress appropriately for the chilly rain and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the activities. The places I enjoyed visiting were the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Wembley Stadium Tour, seeing three west end shows which consisted of Wicked, Mamma Mia, and Phantom of the Opera, eating at Pétrus, and finally doing a hop on hop off bus tour. First, the London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel that overlooks the entire city of London giving viewers an unforgettable 360-degree view experience. It is one of London’s famous attractions that is always busy, and has an average of 3.75 million visitors each year. Although I booked a reservation in advance, I found out that was not the time I would be getting on the London Eye, but it was the time that I could stand in line for the London Eye. I still waited over an hour in line to get on to ride the London Eye. It was very frustrating and misleading because I then missed some of the other activities that I scheduled that day. Secondly, Madame Tussaud’s is a wax figure museum that has over 200 life-size human wax figures. It is another attraction in London that gets very busy in the afternoon and evening, so I recommend going during the morning. Some of my favorite wax figures that I saw included Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Captain America, the royal family, and finally One Direction. Wembley stadium is the largest stadium in England, and I would consider it to be the best stadium tour there is! The stadium tour gives customers the chance to learn about the history of the stadium while getting the opportunity to go backstage and see the dressing rooms, players tunnel, press room, and the royal box. Then, at the end of the tour, customers will get the chance to hold the Emirates FA Cup for a photo. Even though I enjoyed seeing Wicked, Mamma Mia, and Phantom of the Opera, Wicked had to be my favorite musical at The Apollo Victoria Theatre. Wicked is about a girl named Elphaba, who is born with green skin and grows up to be the wicked witch of the west. This musical centers around before the Wizard of Oz giving the audience a backstory of what happened before, during and after the Wizard of Oz. London has a variety of restaurants, but my favorite had to be Pétrus, which is owned by Chef Gordon Ramsay. Pétrus is an upscale French restaurant with an amazing menu and service. It has a glass-encased wine room in the center of the restaurant that holds up to 2,000 different bottles of wine. Finally, by day four my feet hurt. The hop on hop off bus tour was a great way to sit back and relax while enjoying the history and enjoying all of the sites in the city of London. Some of the places the bus tour visits include The Tower of London, The London Eye, Madame Tussauds, London Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Zoo, The Shard, and Buckingham Palace. It was a great way to get around London and to visit many attractions. London definitely has a problem with over tourism making it difficult to fully enjoy. Even though I wished I had more time to spend visiting the attractions in London, I am pleased with my experiences. I definitely look forward to going back soon!

Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London🌪

While in London, I went to see the musical Wicked at The Apollo Victoria Theatre. The musical Wicked is about a girl named Elphaba who is born with green skin and grows up to be the wicked witch of the west. In the musical, viewers will see that everyone is afraid to become her friend since she is green, yet they’ll make friends with the popular girl named Galinda who changes her name to Glinda towards the end of the show. The story centers around before the Wizard of Oz giving the audience a backstory of what happened before, during and after the Wizard of Oz. The musical first started out in 2003 and has grown tremendously doing shows all over the world both in the US and the UK. In fact, the musical has won around 100 awards. I have always been a fan of the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz and the 2013 Oz the great and Powerful which both relate to the show Wicked. The show was really amazing. The cast did an excellent job, and it is a show that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in seeing the musical. The Apollo Victoria Theatre is gorgeous both inside and out. It has multiple levels of tiered seating. I would definitely see another show at this theatre the next time I visit London. I have also included the links to the Apollo Victoria Theatre and Wicked musical if any of you are interested!
