Pouring the perfect Guinness Pint

Wow, what an amazing time I’ve had in Dublin. One of the things I always wanted to do in Dublin was pour my own pint of Guinness. This is such an amazing opportunity that I think everyone should take advantage of if they are ever in Dublin. You can pour your own pint at the Guinness Storehouse or there are a few pubs that will let you pour your own pint if you ask. I went to Ned O’Sheas Pub to learn how to pour a pint and had a blast! It is an excellent pub near the river in the Viking Quarters with an amazing atmosphere. You can pour your own Guinness pint, and find a variety of traditional Irish dishes. The Guinness stew is a great dish to have on a chilly day while sipping on a pint of Guinness. Finally, after pouring the perfect pint you can celebrate by drinking the pint and take home the certificate they give you with your name on it. They also have t-shirts that says “I POURED THE PERFECT PINT AT NED O’SHEA’S DUBLIN” for €15. For anyone who’s interested in checking out Ned O’Shea’s click here: http://www.nedosheas.ie

How to pour the perfect Guinness pint:

  1. Tilt the glass at a 45-degree angle
  2. Open the tap by pulling it all the way forward until it reaches just underneath the harp
  3. Set the glass down and let the Guinness sit for 2 minutes. This allows the beer to settle
  4. Once the beer is settled, put your glass back up to the tap and finish filling it, so you get that nice foamy top as shown in the picture above
  5. Enjoy!!!

Chocolate Raspberry Cake

fullsizeoutput_711

I love chocolate and raspberry! This is a great recipe to make for a family get together, especially when it is chocolate with a raspberry filling. YUM! As I’ve mentioned in my cake balls blog, I love cake. When I saw a can of raspberry filling sitting in my pantry, I thought what a great way to use in a cake. You can use any type of frosting for this recipe. I used vanilla frosting because I didn’t want to overpower the chocolate and raspberry flavors. If you also want a little extra raspberry flavor, then feel free to put some fresh raspberries around the cake. I look forward to reading your comments!

Things you will need:

1 box of chocolate cake mix (I used Duncan Hines)

16 oz. of vanilla frosting

12 oz. of raspberry cake and pastry filling

Fresh Raspberries (optional)

9×13 cake pans

Instructions:

  1. Bake cake as directed on box until toothpick comes out clean
  2. Pull out of oven and let it cool
  3. Take Wilton’s Spray-N-Seal and spray it on the top and side of the cake to help it from crumbling
  4. Next, place one layer on cake container and spread the raspberry filling over the top
  5. Put the next layer on top and frost the cake, so it’s fully covered
  6. Decorate with frosting or place the fresh raspberries around the top of the cake
  7. Enjoy!!!

Sprinkles Cupcake ATM

fullsizeoutput_70b

Sprinkles Cupcake ATM is a cupcake ATM machine that is open 24/7, and has a number of cupcake ATMs across the United States. When I first heard about this cupcake ATM, I wasn’t quite sure how a cupcake from an ATM would taste. The cupcake ATM is positioned outside their bakery shop, so they can stock the ATM with fresh cupcakes every day. I stopped by the one in Nashville, Tennessee that offered a wide variety of flavors such as dark chocolate, banana, carrot, chocolate marshmallow, cinnamon sugar to name a few. I chose the red velvet cupcake, and was truly surprised with the result. It was the moistest and tastiest cupcake I’ve ever eaten. In fact, they also offer a doggy cupcake, if your taking your pooch for a walk. If you are in an area with a Sprinkles cupcake ATM, I highly recommend stopping by the cupcake ATM machine to try their cupcakes. You definitely won’t regret it!!! If you stop by to try a Sprinkles cupcake bakery with a cupcake ATM, let me know what you think.
